I've spent the last four years shipping Android apps in Kotlin, and the last two moving that work onto Compose Multiplatform so a single codebase serves Android and iOS without either one feeling ported.
My habit is to start with the design system — tokens, typography, motion — and build screens on top of it. It keeps the UI consistent and makes the 16.6 ms frame budget something I can actually hold onto once the feature list grows.
